Pakistan Orbit & Oculoplastics Association (POA) Activities at AICO 2026 The Pakistan Orbit & Oculoplastics Association (POA) actively participated in the Annual International Conference of Ophthalmology (AICO) 2026 with an extensive academic program spanning three days. The scientific activities reflected POA's commitment to advancing education, surgical training, research, and clinical excellence in orbit, oculoplastics, and lacrimal surgery.The Pakistan Orbit & Oculoplastics Association (POA), in collaboration with the Oculoplastics Society of Pakistan and SAARC (OPSSA), successfully organized a highly interactive webinar on "Ptosis" on 19 July 2026. The webinar brought together distinguished national and international oculoplastic surgeons, providing an excellent platform for academic exchange and continuing medical education. The scientific program commenced following a pre-webinar Executive Committee meeting and was conducted according to the approved webinar format.

The opening session featured welcome addresses by Prof. Zeeshan Kamil, President of POA, and Prof. Ashok Grover, President of OPSSA, who emphasized the importance of collaborative learning and regional academic partnerships in advancing oculoplastic surgery.

The scientific symposium included insightful presentations by Prof. Amer Yaqub on Levator Resection, Prof. Tayyab Afghani on Congenital Ptosis – Out of the Box, and Dr. Mukesh Sharma on the Posterior Approach to Ptosis Surgery. These lectures were followed by a lively panel discussion featuring Prof. Imran Akram Sahaf, Prof. Zahid Kamal Siddiqui, Prof. Ibrar Hussain, and Prof. Muhammad Moin, who shared valuable surgical experience, practical tips, and evidence-based recommendations for managing challenging ptosis cases.

The webinar also included two educational case presentations. Dr. Nasir Yasin presented a case of Entropion after Levator Resection, while Dr. Adnan Abdul Majeed discussed a Frontalis Flap case. The subsequent panel discussion, comprising Dr. Muhammad Salman Hamza, Dr. Fariha Sherwali, and Dr. Amna Manzoor, highlighted surgical decision-making, complication management, and practical clinical pearls, resulting in an engaging and interactive learning experience.

The webinar concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Muhammad Salman Hamza, General Secretary of POA, followed by closing announcements by Prof. Golem Haider, General Secretary of OPSSA. The organizers expressed sincere appreciation to the faculty, moderators, panelists, and participants for their enthusiastic involvement and contribution to the success of the event.

Scientific Symposium on Eyelid Disorders

POA conducted a dedicated scientific symposium featuring presentations on contemporary eyelid surgery and reconstructive techniques. Topics included blepharoptosis, blepharoplasty, lateral tarsal strip surgery, lower eyelid malpositions, congenital eyelid anomalies, evisceration, canthopexy, and ectropion management. The session showcased innovative surgical approaches and clinical outcomes presented by experts from across Pakistan.

The webinar reaffirmed the shared commitment of POA and OPSSA to promoting excellence in oculoplastic education through high-quality scientific activities, fostering regional collaboration, and enhancing the knowledge and surgical skills of ophthalmologists, fellows, and residents.
