Meet the Expert Online Program

This program started since February 2021 is specially aimed at continuous professional development, teaching and training of doctors undergoing second fellowship in oculoplastics. Using Zoom digital platform, the session is in the form of case presentations by the trainees and the discussion is conducted by an international expert. The program is of 45 minutes to 75 minutes duration and is conducted once or twice a month. Many international experts are participating in this program. That includes Prof. AK Grover, Prof. Santosh G Honavar and Prof Milind Naik from India, Prof. Hakan Demirci from Kellogg Eye Center Ann Arbor, USA, Prof. Gangadhara Sundar from SNEC Singapore, Dr. Yasir Khan from Canada, Prof. Amer Yaqub, Prof Ibrar Hussain and Prof. Tayyab Afghani from Pakistan.

 

 

 

International Webinars

Series of International Webinars on Oculoplasty have been planned by OPSSA (Oculoplastic Society of South Asia) in collaboration with Oculoplastic Associations from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan. The First of the Series was organized by Nepal on 18th October 2020. On 4th of January the second of this series was organized by POA. Leading experts from America, Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan took part in it. The third was organized by India and fourth by Bangladesh. POA members actively participated in all of these Webinars.

 

Debra Pakistan is a charitable organisation that helps support individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) in Pakistan. EB also affects eyes and in this regards Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital contributed towards EB awareness week in Rawalpindi. Dr. Maheen from Al-Shifa and a POA member made an impressive presentation.

 

POA arranged a Webinar on Combating Eye Cancers in Pakistan with support from Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) Islamabad on September 09 2020. Around 50 professionals from whole of Pakistan participated.

 

Dr. Sameera Irfan a very dynamic member of POA and vice President of Oculoplastic Society of South Asia participated in number of activities within and outside Pakistan.

 

 

POA President Prof. Tayyab Afghani talked about unusual features of malignant tumors of the lacrimal gland during the webinar hosted by Bangladesh Oculoplastic Surgeons Society (BOSS) on September 19, 2020.

 

 

POA actively participated in Khyber EyeCon held in February 2020 in Peshawar. Here, President POA is seen with international participants, Dr. Pablo Gold Schmidt from Paris and Dr. Sohail from UK. The annual POA meeting also took place here where leading experts of the country discussed about the future activities of the POA.

 

Prof. Ibrar, President Elect, POA conducted a very useful workshop on Diode laser assisted DCR at Peshawar in October 2020.
